Taking care of yourself when you use a computer is as important as maintaining your operating system on your computer. Many people spend many hours a day on the computer. The toll of this is often very hard on the eyes, neck, back, arms, hands, and many other parts of the body. In order to help you get through each and every day of extended computer use it is important to take care of your self.
With your hands it is important to stretch them every opportunity you get. Take time every fifteen to twenty minutes to stop typing. This only takes a few seconds and doesn’t have to be an interruption but can be a necessary part of keeping you moving at a fast pace while you work. Stretch your arms from the shoulders down to the finger tips. Roll your head around on your neck and reach your hands up toward the ceiling. Nobody else is going to maintain the health of your body for you.
Your eyes are very important as well. At least every twenty minutes take time to look away from your computer screen. it is best if you have something at least twenty feet away from you, that is not another screen that you can look at for a moment. Really it is good to do it for at least twenty seconds. All of this including the stretching can be done at the same time. If you can, get up and walk around. All of these actions can take as little as thirty seconds.
